71 changed to plastic, most 70’s came with metal, my 70S very late production came with plastic, purchased car from 2nd owner In 1977 so I have no reason to believe it’s not original.

rvdv is incorrect . '70's were plastic and because of too many melt downs and fires , Porsche went back to metal in '71 .

My 11/69 S has a steel air cleaner and plastic air intake horns. Have owned it since 72 and was all original then.

I read Chuck's thread , lots of misinformation . I've seen many original cars . The 700 mile '70 911S - plastic air filter housing . 70 SATMan , are you absolutely sure your air filter is original or has it been replaced ?
