Floor Pans... leave Original Biege OR go Black with SKS stoneguard

    Input Needed.!

I have a low mileage well looked after 69T

The floor pans and wheel wells are in incredibly good shape.
But, everywhere I look I see guys redoing the floor pans with black colored Wurth undercoating or Wurth SKS stoneguard.

The factory undercoating is not the prettiest... the tan / beige color for the floor pans and black in the wheel wells and everywhere else
But, it the way it came from the factory in 69.

Yes doing everything in Black SKS stone guard looks beautiful. But, i kinda like keeping it the way it came from the factory.

What do you think? Keep it Original OR redo it in SKS stoneguard.

    Thanks.
    Doug

I say don't do it , I know it's a cliche but it's only original once . Why trade originality for incorrectness ? Why have another car that looks nice , but is just wrong . In the end I think originality has more value , so the answer is simple .

I agree with Richy! You are one of the lucky few with that much originality… Why would you throw it away?

    Cornpanzer...
Thanks for the response. It's good to hear that you and Richy agree on this.
I like the idea of keeping it original.
    Thanks!

    I have two 1969 911T.

Both are sand beige. One of them original paint before i restored it.
The floors were not body color.

After media blasting it showed that the floors had some pin holes. So we replaced the floors. (No sence in doing multiple patches.)

We sprayed the floor in correct SKS Wurth which required a special gun to shoot it. The floors were black from the factory and we kept it that way.
Same for the engine bay and front trunk.

If you are building a hot rod, race car or a color change, I can see why one would not bother to stay correct, especially if not a numbers matching car.

For me, I wanted to stay as true as i could to honor the car.

I am not 100% certain on what year and models had body color floors and wheel wells?

Both my 1969 Karmann bodied 911T had black floors with the interior floors painted body color but with the seat rail areas sprayed black.
the dash top had body color over spray.

    TCS,
Thanks for your input and the great photos of your floor replacement.

I am with you... regarding honoring the car as much as possible by not changing it unless it's too far gone.

I am surprised that your 69 had Black floor in and out. Wow!
I had heard that the factory did not stay consistent in the undercoating even within a model year. I cannot remember if my car is a Karmann body or not. I will have to look at the numbers.

    Thanks again for the input.
