Very early press photo.
Probably 500008.
Notice the early deck lid script, the white Targa bar upholstery and sun visors and the badge on the side of the Targa bar. Never seen that badge before, prior to the 'targa' script perhaps?

First Targa brochures all show this car(s) either in green or red. 001 also has this setup.

Thank you Karim, do you have more details on that badge?

I’m guessing it may be akin to the Porsche logo on early chrome hubcaps. There are two photos in Brian Long’s 911 series books, but the badges are not really visible. However, looking at the size and shape, and thinking that the factory probably didn’t have too much time or budget to spare at that time, used something to hand.
The Long boom noted that the photos came from an early press release, so someone here may have copies of the original photos which could be more easily seen.

Maybe a Karmann logo like on the rollbar structure of a VW Golf? Who built the first targas?

What's the difference between heroin addiction & P-Car projects? Heroin use has it's limits.
The badge feature the Porsche Crest.
Here is the first production Targa ever, today owned in Germany.
Its VIN is 500 001, ivory white.
(A 901 Prototyp Targa version had VIN 13360, among others)
And here pics in one of the first Targa brochure, code W25 (not dated - I’m guessing images/printed late 1965.)
Same number plate as in post 1.

002 was the first car built.
004 was the second car.
The 003 was the third car.
001 was the fourth car.
Of these four, only the 001 received the round emblem.
The first car with Targa script was either 003 or 006 but it depends on when 003 was rebuilt into a police car because before it was rebuilt it had no emblem.
If it happened after July 6, 006 was the first.
The car in the picture is 001 and it wasn’t the first car produced
001 was an demo car and you don’t give it away before the tests
On 002 and 004 was done.
Therefore even 003 had to wait until 004 was welded up stiffer
And 005 was made after 006
005 was the first car with the new 1967 script and number even
the first with 901/05 engine in it.

007 was an Versuch car
The purpose aren’t known to me
It was at the fabric for around eight months, then sold to France.
My suspicion is that the car with registration plate S-PS 160 was 009
the blue car. Made after or before 005, Need to see kardex
If you look at 009 then you can see it have 1966 glove box. The next car was 010
010 was the first with 67 box ,then they moved on with 008 and one day after that 007 was built.
Is 007 alive?
