Car has all SWB details:
Front bumper attachment, under dash three grey plugs for wiring loom, vents on inner sills, etc.

The thing is:
When I disassembled the dash, it’s panel doesn’t look from a 68 model.
Apart from this panel (and the fact it is a Targa with some different body reinforcements) , all the rest of the car looks identical to other two SWB Coupe I am working on...
Any ideas what this poor car has been through...?
Looks like my '68 Targa aside from the hacked out radio spot and the extra gauge hole.

1966 912. My first car. Bought it Nov. 25, 1988. Still have it.
Looks normal to me. The hole was probably for an outside temperature gauge... number stamped under the ashtray should match the VIN.

Sorry but I don’t think so...
If you look closer you can see:
The hole that supposedly is used for the ashtray on a SWB, is bigger and has the size of the vents controls module on a LWB. You can see from the small hole on the left, that is centered on the photo I posted and downwards on the picture posted by jt912.
Also the are no small holes for the dash trim.
pic 4 shows the sender for the temp gauge.
does it have the lwb steering collumn?
once i have seen a very strange swb with many LWB details and it looked original to me.
it had swb gauges with the studs and the swb style opening for the gauges but the lower part of the dash was already LWB like yours with the heater control and the different ashtray position--just like yours..
driver side lock post was the non bowl version.
taillights LWB
indicators in the front i dont remember.
it`s been quite a while that i saw this car and i was not so familiar with P cars as i`m today
but we where also looking at the car and did not know what we should think about itsouth
car was located in germany..and it was a 68 tangerine targa
