    I wonder what those bugs had for engines. A stock motor will not shoot rooster tails from both wheels, or even one for that matter.

    Yup, all strut-suspended Super Beetles. Engines are likely 1600 dual port with a good cam and bigger valves, every trick the FIA allows for that class. Probably north of 120HP through an LSD transaxle. Sound great, don't they?
