    Hood badge

    Did Porsche clear coat these? Or is that 50 plus years of polish I'm scraping off with my thumbnail?

    Chris, I cannot answer your question re "factory coating" but I've looked at a couple of oldies I have and they do not show any obvious coating at all.

    I've looked at dozens (probably hundreds) of these and I'm almost positive there was a coating of some kind. Where's Mike F. when you need him?

    Suggest toothbrush rather than thumbnail. Not aware of any clear coating applied by manufacturer.

    Originals were cleared back to 356 days. I have had many of both and always identified untouched originals by the coating.
