Is this color ok for exhaust ?

    Hi all,
as I thread title I need your opinion on the exhaust color.
It has been sanded and repainted with a very high temperature paint (up to 800°C).

The resulting color seems too silver instead of medium gray as the original.

Will you accept it on your car ? Or you will ask to repaint it (with a traditional paint).

P.S. Unfortunatly no one can ceramic coat it near me.

I used VHT Light Grey. Looks perfect and holds up great. I think I bought it at a Napa Auto Parts store. Edit: I see you are in Italy, so US solutions won't help.

It all depends on the year of your car . Early 911's through the first half of the '70 production can have silver exhaust paint , look at period factory photos if you don't have an original example to study .

I have always used factory assembly line photos as reference for original colors, plating, lustre, etc.

I have engine assembly line photos from 1967 and either '70 or '71 (Zeniths) and the exhaust (boxes and mufflers) are a definite metallic grey lustre....NOT flat grey. I'm not sure where the flat grey thing got started. Although I know several after market and replacement exhaust components were sold in a flat light grey (Dansk). By the late 70s the factory was moving to naked stainless alloy. Having stated all that....mid 80s 930s do have flat light grey boxes and a stainless mufflers!

There are some ceramic coatings that are close and I also use VHT SP117 Flat Aluminum

I think Shaun @ Tru6 has done them in Cerakote which is a pretty impressive product. Gunsmiths I know use it a lot as it is very tough.

Sorry I don't have a photo for you, but I did work in Porsche dealer parts department (1973-1976). Exhaust components (at least replacement parts) were a medium satin grey, not metallic.
As noted the VHT SP104 is very close, if not a shade too light.
