    Detailed description:

This is a concourse preservation class 1989 Porsche 944 turbo S (951). This 951 is excellent cosmetically and mechanically. This Porsche was purchased new in California and resided there until last August when I bought it and drove it to my home in Portland, OR and has always been garage kept with a cover on it. I bought this Porsche from a Pebble Beach Concourse judge who owned it for approximately the last 20 years. Comes with personalized California license plates (951 RS), and this car has never had a front plate installed so there are no holes in the front bumper, one license plate is still in the plastic and new.

This 944 turbo comes with the original window sticker/invoice. Dealer stamped warranty book, owner’s manual, manuals for the blaupunkt stereo and equalizer, tool kit (looks new), spare tire and wheel, jack, Porsche air compressor for space saver spare and complete service history/records.

This car has an excellent body without even a single door ding. Looks to be factory original paint, if it has been repainted it was done to a very high standard and there is no evidence of a repaint. This car has a super fine interior, perfect dash with no cracks, excellent leather seats and steering wheel etc. and still has the Original Porsche and Sigla logo windshield. Forged alloy club sport wheels with super nice anodizing etc. as delivered from the factory.

The engine runs fantastic, does not smoke, has great compression etc. I did a mild stealth upgrade that makes the car even more powerful and fun to drive. I have replaced the stock DME with a Rogue tuning DME and I have also added Rogue tuning A-tune chips and map sensor, with a Lindsey boost enhancer and a 3.0 bar fuel pressure regulator. These changes are almost invisible but they increase the horsepower from about 250 to about 300 plus while increasing torque, throttle response, smoothness of the idle and gas mileage. These easily reversible modifications also eliminate the sometimes troublesome stock DME box which is based on 1980s computer technology and soldered joints. All of these upgrades were done within the last few months and within the couple of hundred miles. I no longer have the stock DME or the stock chips so those are not included with the sale. The only other modification from stock is a front strut tower brace that was on the car when I bought it (see engine compartment pics).

89, 944 turbo are “s”specification and come with upgraded engine, strengthened transmission with limited slip and transmission oil cooler and sport suspension. The 1989 model year is rare with only about 1300 made and is the most desirable of the 944 turbo series. This car has several options including the factory 10 speaker sound system, blaupunkt stereo with equalizer, sunroof, tinted windows, factory alarm, air conditioning and cruise control. The air conditioner and cruise control work great which makes this a great cruiser and road car.

I believe that everything works on this car, even the clock. That being said I have not had an opportunity to test the rear defroster or cassette player so I can’t speak to those items. The stereo and speaker system sounds great.

In the past two weeks I installed a new battery and I had all the belts, rollers, tensioners , seals and coolant hoses as well as the water pump professionally replaced to the tune of about $2000 in parts and labor.

I just completed a comprehensive detailing and this car is ready to enjoy now. This 951 is located in Portland, OR
