    Carrera RS Wheels

A pair of 8x15 RS wheels, dated 5/73
    911-361-020-02
They're very useable as is, if car is gonna be perfect
they oughta be perfect too, so a re-do is recommended
light curb rash on the outside lips, but good condition for "over 40"
Tires will be removed for shipping.
I asked people all over for pricing, I learned there was no definitive answer,
so...I'll start at $7500.00? (I know it's not an auction site here, Thank You)
if that's too much I'm sure I'll find out soon.
    Flame suit is on

These wheels need to go to a good home.
I'm open to reasonable offers I guess since they're not selling at the axing price.

If you are lucky 3-4K range, just need to find someone who only wants unrestored original wheels and is going for patina. Not everybody's cup of tea. GLWS.

    Hi Guys
    Thanks for chiming in here.
Clyde: the wheels you reference are not the mystical 8" ers. I think it's a pineapple/pomegranate comparison
One of the vetted wheel experts thought they were worth $5k. I figured I'd start high, it can't hurt and I can reassess if I get an offer.
Cees: These wheels are very restorable, so they should hopefully appeal to someone in need of a pair for a driver or a concours queen.

Clyde, I get your point but the 8’s are a whole different ball game (pre August 73) in terms of availability over 6’s and 7’s. I think only one or two pairs have surfaced on here in many years.
    Now to the nitty gritty,

It’s nice to get a pair of dated wheels but I just not happy about those date stamps without a look with the naked eye especially at the price asked. There is some question about overstamping wouldn’t you say? One would have hoped for a VERY detailed description and photos. After all, no one is going to spend that kind of money with being totally convinced of their pedigree (even if you had a 73RS sitting on blocks with no rear wheels) are they? For instance, how deep is that petal mark and just what is that oxidation like around the valve area?

    Rare wheels if genuine.

    Regards
    Mike

    5.73

I think the date stamp is legit, see example of another 5.73 (6J x 15"). I have never seen a re-stamp with the correct fonts but they are probably out there.

    Cees

PS I recently sold a restored set of 8J x 15, 3/71 dated for $4K to put the pricing in perspective.

The point is they looked to have been stamped twice and although the font looks correct it’s not the same as the stamp on your pictured wheels (or mine).

Mike I get your point on the rarity

I have had 6’s in the past with a double stamp like that maybe Fritz
    makes an error with stamping.
