Rare: Original BOSCH 4487 raised script lenses

    ** SOLD **

    ** FOR ORIGINALITY BUFFS **

The BOSCH 4487 lenses was used on the RoW reflector headlamps until they were replaced by H4's around 1972. We were chatting about "rare" the other day which is something which I prefer not to use in my marketing. However, these are really rare, the only set I've ever seen. In fact, until I saw them I didn't know for sure that BOSCH 4487 lenses ever had the script raised on the outside of the lenses. I knew H1 lenses did because I've a lot of them, but not 4487's.

They're actually in pretty good condition. I rate these at a 2- to a 3+ on a scale of 1-5 with one being the highest and five being the lowest. New reproductions (which are excellent) sell for $84.00 apiece. I think these are fairly priced at $245.00 for the pair.

    Price: $245.00 plus careful shipping

    Thanks for looking,
    John

H1 lenses have ridge at the top that protrudes out. The 4487 lenses are "flat" (slightly curved) with no ridge. In my opinion the 4487 lenses give the best look of all lenses as they match the profile of the car from the side. There's more information including pictures at my website: http://www.audettecollection.com/por...adlight-guide/

    Cheers,
    John

It’s not my experience that these were on all ROW pre-H4 headlights. Certainly not in the UK, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Singapore etc anyway. The lenses were 7045 in these markets.

If you want to know about rare lenses then try and find a pair of 7045’s. Now you are talking rare.

    Regards
    Mike.

Interesting! So these lenses are the only correct lens for ROW/Euro non H1/H4 lights? What is actually the difference between these and the ones for pre -67 VW Beetles? Apart from the bezels and fixing metoder these look the same?

Thanks for good info, I have always wondered about this!
