    Welfare check on Paul Abbott

He hasn't posted here since March, phone is disconnected, and he's not responding to emails.

If Paul isn't checking in here perhaps someone will let us know that he's ok?

Happy to report that Paul is stellar and recovering nicely from living in California.

Paul is a good ole Texas boy, but he moved in a good direction when he left Cali. Dallas ain't fit to live in if you like to drive an old car. And very few speak Texan any more, when "howdy" gets you a stare.

That explains why Paul has so much common sense.

Isn't it interesting that certain terms or words parse the culture? When someone uses "folks", "howdy", or "2A" they're immediately identified with a particular political party. And someone else using the word "impeachment" is attached to a different party.

I've thought that as well.... not only culture but age as well...

In a restaurant if the young host or hostess, waitress or waiter, refers to any group over a certain age as 'guys'... "Is this table OK for you guys?"... It drives me nuts!!!
In that case I would counsel these young people to refer to these customers as folks...

Kind'of'like answering a business phone before noon with "good morning", and between noon and 6 with "good afternoon" …. I don't know, it's just'a THING with me...

Glad to hear Paul is OK...

Chuck, as a self-appointed expert on all things Millennial I believe that has more to do with a complete lack of awareness regarding guests, customers, patrons, etc. It's not ageism or bias toward old farts, it's simply an unwillingness to incorporate manners and formal etiquette when addressing people in general. When "you guys" includes woman it could be construed as incredibly disrespectful. Even when dining out with my daughters the tatted up host or server will invariably address us as "guys". Huh?

BTW: I have nothing against tats but I have a serious problem with disrespect toward a paying customer. The server should feel obligated to speak the customer's language, not the other way around.
