    Heat won't stop coming into cabin 71 Targa

    Need some help here, The heat will not stop pouring into the cabin regardless;

    1. Blower Fan on or off
    2. temp slide is in cold
    3. no matter if in defroster (dash vents) or floor vents

    Suppose the problem is in the cable controlled vent/valve boxes. Should they be open or closed for NO heat and just fresh (cowl vent) air.? Any help appreciated

    Under body vent valves should be open, most likely yours are closed even though you have the heater lever down.

    Here are some helpful tips-

    -Blower fan doesn't control heater. The fan is fresh air sourced from the cowl inlet just below the wipers. From left to right: Closed, just cowl forced air, and then stages of fan speed.
    -The two sliders below the fan control are distribution levers for fresh air and for heat: directing either the fresh air and/or heat to "floor" or windscreen.

    When the engine is running, air from the air cooling fan shrouds left and right direct air into the heat exchangers. The under body heater valves dump hot air AND close when the center, between the seats lever is all the way down.

    The heater valves do rust and occasionally need replacement. Good time to check the 2 heater valve control cables while working on that area.

    from under the car forward of each rear axle, you will find left and right heat valves up high. With your hand you can manually open the stuck valves so heat will not enter the cabin.
