What are these holes in my '68 911?

    Hello!

I am doing that really messy an arduous job of stripping the interior on this '68 911 builder car I picked up recently. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions along the way unless I can find them by searching.

I found these holes in the back seat/fenderwell area. They are on boths sides. Could these be where seatbelt retractors once lived? If no then any idea what they could be for? They are on both sides.

Thanks & I'm not sure why this uploaded sideways.

    Jay

Thank You. ...Is this a common thing to happen? The car really has minimal rust on it other than surface rust and a small floor patch that is needed.

Thanks Again! Now I need to decide what I really want to do for seatbelts! I'm trying to decide if strengthening and attaching to the B Pillar might be a better/safer solution.

I still am not sure what my ultimate seat belt solution is going to be. However, if I use the stock seat belt retractor location would these mounting plates from Schroth be a better solution than the stock ones from Restoration Design? This '68 also has the harness mounts on the rear parcel shelf. This seat belt solution thing absolutely has my head spinning!

I had the same setup and same problem on mine. I repaired the holes with a replacement from Stoddard. The harness mount wasn’t for everyday use and assumes the parcel shelf is in great condition.
