    72 915 gate wiggle

So I have been driving my 911S a bit. It runs better the more I run it! It seems the gate from 1 to 2 is narrow, then the gate for 3 and 4 is wide and sloppy. 5 of course is fine.

I had the trans rebuilt by Auto Atlanta (I know...). It shifts fine other than that. All of the bushings, etc on the external linkage have been renewed.

Something is bent or worn inside???

    Paul,
Are you absolutely positive that the round shift rod bushing under the shift lever is ok? The donut one that fits in the bracket.

Actually I would check all of the bushings again and the set screw on the coupler just to be on the safe side... otherwise it sounds like it may be in the box.

Have you tried resetting the shifter linkage coupling a couple of degrees in such a way to give more space for the 1-2 shift? I have just been wrestling with one of these. Don't give 1-2 too much room or then it won't go in reverse!
