sold
including original mounting hardwear.
fits 67-71

if anyone needs the brackets welded on the a-pillar i could extract them from the beyond repair shell...but since this is a bit of work it will cost 90€ extra

Does anyone know the background to these bars, I thought it might have been a post sale/recall item as some cars have them and some don’t. They also look like a different construction to most Porsche parts?
Thanks!
one would have a hard time installing the hole setup post sale since the brackets this bar slides in is not only welded once like pic 5 and 6 could make you think.the brackets penetrate the reinforcement and are also welded to the a-pillar....have a look here

Just looks like an afterthought to me......
911AUS Should probably check the Porsche parts manual before you give an opinion like that.
It is in the parts katalog. However it is tricky to tell when it was added. It is definitely a Porsche part, my interest is motivated by the fact that it doesn’t look like the same material as used elsewhere on the vehicle. Maybe something that Porsche decided to add to strengthen the Targa...
Without double checking it looks like the bar I have in my 68 Targa.
Targa 500002 I think was the first car that was developed and tested on the test track.
It turned out that it was soft in the chassis and then 004 was reinforced with this rod and probably some other details also
This improvement was probably made on all Targa, so even 002 was strengthened a little later.
006 has it.
