    Sun Visor identification

I had assumed this sun visor was off a Targa but having seen photos of some other visors I am now not sure.

This visor seems to be generally deeper whilst the indentation on the left where the pivot goes is much shorter than on the ones in the second photo.

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks Cliff, I need to be more diligent in my searching of the forum.......I wouldn't mind but I actually posted on one of the linked threads!

    Thanks again.

Did u get your question answered. They look like 914. The metal pins pull out of plastic holders when clamps are tightened to much. 2 with plastic 2 without. Hope I'm right. G

I thought so, from the linked threads that Cliff put me onto there was this photo that suggested 67 coupe (all black).....I hadn't realised you could get all black in 67 for a coupe:

The 67 coupes I have seen (and two I have owned) were black on one side and white (headliner color) on the other. Was all black a special order option?

I have a 67 also and they are white/black and have 2 screw beige bearings. The black bearing in photo is wrong but of course will work in a stationary visor.

I have still not managed to get to the bottom of this.

The sun visor in my initial photo at the start of the thread was in the 'Out of Africa T/R', initially we thought it was perhaps a later addition (although having lived in Africa most of its life the car didn't really succumb to much updating) but then we found that the ex Hamilton T/R that is now in the Bowden collection in Australia had exactly the same visor fitted (see photos below). Both these cars had black lightweight carpet for roof linings hence the use of a black/black visor together with the use of black pivots, whilst both cars only had a single visor for the driver (as I have found was the case in other T/R's); you will also notice that in both cases they had to use a LHD (non mirror) drivers mirror the wrong way up for the RHD cars. These two T/R's were both late 68MY builds (circa May/June 1968) so the parts used would have been sitting in the store around that period.

Appreciate it is not the biggest issue facing the world but when did that stop us wanting to understand these details!
