Thread: VDM Catalog

    VDM Catalog

Lots of places sell new VDM steering wheels. I've bought a couple. They are nice. Not exactly like the originals, but well made and very presentable. I'd like to know what else they have available. Does anyone know of a VDM catalog? I can't find anything on the net other than retailers.

Anyone? Ed Mayo? Frank Beck? Any restoration shops out there have this info? I'd love to know more if anyone is willing to share. Cheers and thanks much.

I do not know of a VDM catalog. That is not to say there isn't one. I know in many of the early accessory catalogs VDM steering wheels were featured as options. Check Der White's website. I'm not sure if he has 911/12 info but it is interesting none the less.

Thanks Steve. There has got to be a supplier for these and a catalog. It's odd that nobody knows. Several places sell them. *shrug* I'll keep hunting.

Are you talking about the repro VDM lookalike wheels without ABE?

If they have been produced by VDM, the would have an ABE.

Yes, I assume they are reproduction, but I'm not sure, since its tough to find any current info on VDM. This wheel from Sierra Madre http://www.sierramadrecollection.com...mm-p25581.html
says "VDM" and "Made in Germany" so reproduction? Not entirely sure. Tell me more about "ABE", I don't recognize that term.

These repro are sold here also, but without ABE.
ABE means technical approval, which is needed to drive on roads legally.

The company VDM that produced the real steering wheels does not exist for three decades or more.
There had been several Mergers and Acquisition. Today VDM Metalls is on the market and produces bare metals.

Thanks for the explanation. This is starting to make more sense now.
