    My '68/SWB suspension set-up

I've searched the threads, and, of course, it's clear suspension set-up is largely a preference thing. Here's one good thread.

I was content with what I was running before the perpetual restoration began. But, I wanted to revisit this before I send everything off to powder coating and have the car painted.

    Sway bars
I have stock 15 bars front and rear. I was going to keep these for now with the thought I can changed them down the road after I live with the car.

    Torsion Bars
    18.8 mm front
23 mm rear (although these measure uniformly 22 mm)

    Shocks
    Front P36-0112-H0 (Bilstein B6, heavy duty; FWIW, I have a front suspension--Boge--from a '72)
Rear B46-0167-H0 (Bilstein B6, heavy duty; I think these were for a LWB, but no rubbing that I remember--anyone else have issues?)

Any strong opinions regarding the above? I'm particularly curious about the T-bars. Use is road trips with some "spirited" mountain/twisty driving.

Regarding the rear suspension, I was thinking of having the cast SWB rear sway bar mounts welded in because I've heard this is a weak point. Also, I was thinking about doing the LWB to SWB adjustable spring plate conversion to replace the aftermarket adjustable spring plates, which look kind of clunky to me--so just an aesthetic change.

Thanks for suffering through another SWB suspension thread, I appreciate it.

A 68 did have 22 mm rear torsions, a one year fitment, 69 went back to 23's.

Ed, as always, you are very wise.

What are your thoughts on T-bars, etc. for this car? Can I tweak this set up?

If you have cast rear sway bar mounts they are not stock . If they are Wevo you are in luck , better than stock . How are they installed ? I think they should be welded in place .

I have the stamped, stock rear sway bar mounts. I was considering going to cast mounts.

The Wevo mounts don’t follow the the SWB body contour. Someone was making them for SWB, but I’m having trouble finding the thread about who’s making them.

Bill, on my 67 S which I also autocross, I run turbo bars ,26 mm, in the rear. They are enough stiffer to help keep the outside rear corner up without making the ride too stiff for long highway drives. My rear sway bar mounts are stock, unless you're running a huge rear bar they will be fine. If you ever do tear one then definitely update to the stronger ones. I'm still just running the stock 15 sway bars front and rear.
