    GRRRR, electric issues

Drove the car about 3 weeks ago. Ran great pulled it into the garage and let it sit. This morning was going to cars and coffee, no start. No click, no fuel pump, no lights, no nothing. Pulled the battery figuring that was this (Odessey extreme). Battery checked out fine putting out more than 12v. Amps checked too. Put it back in the car. Ground strap at the battery checks good.

What could have happened to give me this no start? It has a rebuilt high torque starter (about 15 months old). Ground strap at starter?

    Thoughts?

OOPs, sorry didn’t put the specs. 3.2L motor in a 1969 912 chassis. Was rewired a couple of years ago

I had a similar issue. I pulled my '73 into a gas station to refuel. When I tried to restart the car it was dead. I was able to bump start it. It turned out to be the starter.

There is a big + wire attached to the positive battery terminal. This feeds all the electrics other than the big wire to the starter. You could look for corrosion there. If you have no fuel pump lights etc it is a likely candidate.

+1 for the positive terminal. Check for corrosion or a break.

Have you tried a different battery or a jump start?
How old is your ignition switch?

Thank you Gents. My air cooled whisperer said much the same. Is there something specific to look for in your view? Will be getting after it again once Christmas lights are up

How did you test battery for amps? Do you have park lights? Do you have power to ignition terminal 30? Do you have power to light switch term. 30. Since car was rewired I have no idea what kind of connections were used, a stock 69 did have bulkhead plugs behind the switches, make sure they are all plugged in tight,,,,if you still have those. Check to see if there is ANY power to any fuse box connection, if not you probably have battery connection issue, take off battery cable connections, clean them and posts and reinstall. Before you go downstream you have to know the source is good. Start with an actual battery load test to see if it will accept any load.

The 3.2 Motronic system needs to have at least 12v for the ECU to even think about working. Make sure you have 12v to the ECU and make sure all your grounds are good. Check resistance of your grounds. As a check, you can hook a jumper cable up to the engine and another to the chassis to by bass or enhance your ground.

Also, motronic relays are known weak spots

I pulled the battery and had it tested. 12.8v is the reading. Good amperage. The odd thing is I turned it off after it running fine and now no start. The only change is it has gotten cold or cold for Scottsdale. No other changes. Is there something specific I can look at on the positive cables? There are three, two large, one small
