Yes, Jim, I am aware of the difference for the '72 faceplate.

One could possibly argue that since my car is a rather early '72 (8/71 production) that it could well have had a '71 radio installed at the factory.

    Possibly.

Or one could decide that this one is close enough, and go for a drive instead of worrying about it.

Today was another one. My wife and I decided to get out of town and went upriver into the Cascades to go hiking. And there was no reason not to drive the Porsche.

And I'm really pleased. The car did great. Solid, responsive and fun. No issues at all. Ran great, oil temp steady at about 190°F, even got a wave from a guy driving a 991. No complaints, and the only to-do item from the drive is to wash the bugs off.

Nice ride, nice drive. Isn't great when one can come back from a drive and not have a To Do List.

Not quite 18 months, Rick, depending on how you pick the start time. While I initiated the purchase in Dec. 2018, I didn't actually receive the car until the first of March 2019. The picture on the trailer was in late Feb. 2019. Of course, much of the delay in shipping was because I commissioned some rust repair work to be done prior to shipment. So yeah, I suppose that time counts, too.

But the exact time frame isn't all that important. It was a pretty good starting point, and things have gone really well throughout. I really wasn't expecting to get this far, this fast.

Still picking away at small details, and laying my plans for replacing (and enhancing) the factory A/C. I doubt that will be done before next summer. Because now that the shelter-at-home rules in my part of Oregon have been relaxed a bit, my PCA Region is starting to resume drives and tours, so I plan to be busy driving...

First gathering for PCA Cascade Region since early March when things all shutdown. Purely social time, no driving today, total of 20 cars. First time any of the locals have seen my car since last fall when it was still pretty ratty looking.

    Some updates.

Rear license panel repair was removed and taken back to the paint shop to have a small flaw repaired, was completed in short order and reinstalled on the car.

The car has been out on a couple of fun day trips, and is generally working well.

The radio mounting clips from Denmark have STILL not arrived, even though tracking shows the package cleared customs in Chicago on July 5th. Apparently sat around in the Chicago USPS Center until possibly the 22nd, still no ETA on the tracking.

Received and installed 4 of the 5 engine compartment data plates. The 5th plate is unusual, most suppliers did not have one that matched the well-aged original that was crudely glued to the slam panel when I got the car. (See this thread for details.) I finally found the correct one, it is coming from Canford Classics in the UK. (Hope it gets here in a shorter time than the radio clips.)

Some small A/C parts have arrived, but won't be truly installed for some time yet.

Preparing to do some more oil leak fixes soon, stay tuned for that.
