    What color black?

I am refinishing the tops to the stacks (some folks call them Boats?). The steel units with the metal clips, Is this just a flat black? Any special paint issues to be worried about? (ones above are NOT mine)
    Thanks

I believe they were the same (approx.) 60% semi gloss as the rest of the engine tin... The factory used oven baked enamel... most today powder coat them... take care of the internal cold start system in there...

There has been a lot of talk about air cleaner housings used over the years and 1971 is a bit tricky.
At some point in MY 1971 the plastic air cleaner housing was introduced (which looked and performed much like the previous metal version).

See post #9 from Grady Clay in the following thread which addresses the housings used in various years:

Thats right nick... (I even contributed to that thread) Yeah, in '71 I think they were metal 'buckets' w/squirters, under a plastic cleaner housing....
