Thread: Will the REAL Durant large mirror please stand up?

Will the REAL Durant large mirror please stand up?

    Mirror police, what say you.

Here are 4 versions of the Durant mirror stamp I have encountered, 2 I own and several borrowed from this site. All have the sliding mount.
There are subtleties of star width, clustering, size and where the tips point as well as the MADE IN GERMANY text.

Can anyone provide a photo of one known to be original, e.g., born with the car?

If you would please indicate the year of the car in case the stampings changed over time.

Now back to my OCD meds. Thx

    Thanks

Thanks for the link. I recall reading this one last year. Using the photo supplied of an alleged authentic small Durant, then I believe only one of the photos I posted is an authentic large Durant. Here is the match to my eye.

In the first post the top picture is my mirror, I am a stubborn Irishman and believe it to be a real Durant just a later edition. The quality is top notch and the only difference is the position of the 3 stars. I have seen some of the repros and most of those were awful.

So this is why I began this separate post, to request images of original issued Durant mirror stamps and corresponding year of car so we can separate opinion from fact.

    Anyone?

here is my June / July 1973 build one (car finished in early July) as a RHD car we still had the round durants to the end of the 73 Model year - so a VERY late production one
I believe this to be original to my car although as i have not owned it from new i cant be absolutely certain

the second one is framed in a reflection from the back of my IPhone to try and get a clear picture of the stamping as the reflections make it hard to see clearly

Bottom right mirror is not a match, different font and spacing.
