Unrelated, but what the heck:
Fetched the powder coated parts lot.
reassembled the heater boxes, the gear shifter, one (spare) pedal cluster and the handbrake lever.
Thanks Nick, wasn't cheap or easy, but what a revelation.
Today CV joints. I need the opinions of seasoned pros. I have cleaned 50 years of petrified grease off one of them, and here below are the wear marks. They are nothing like the last CV joint that went bad on me, when it sounded like a helicopter, and one could hear me 3 minutes before I ...landed.
So, re-useable?
Looks OK to me. No pitting, and it looks like you can’t catch a ridge with your fingernail. Is that the worst of it?
Hi Rick,
No ridge that catches my fingernail. It is the first I have cleaned, will check the others as I get them cleaned. Dried grease and dust mix are not easy to get off.
Thanks!
Edit: one out of four is FUBARed. I am glad, I'd have thought all four going in.

Amazing thread, fantastic work by both you and your son.
The body shop has resumed work, tackling the front third of the shell. Front floor chopped off, battery boxes, inner fenders.
I also went to pick up another batch from the powder coating people, might be the last one (ha!).
Now for the "I need help" segment: Edit: found locally.

I had to order some sheetmetal for the front inner fenders, and had a long list of parts to replace, mainly rubber and wear items, so made a bulk order. 100 lines of items came in.
I also received the 2nd lot from zinc (and phosphate) plating.
with that I can build subassemblies. I started with the pedal cluster that is ready to drop in.
Firt, we took a day off, after almost 2 weeks solid in the garage.
The rear calipers came out great, the spacers show some blotchiness, while being smooth. Weird. The unobtainium Ribe M7 bolts and nuts came back great as well. The Pad retaining pins I threw in the plating lot, but I will change them, they are quite pitted from corrosion.
Question: which finish is correct for the rear swaybar links, powder coated or plated?
Ah the North and East faces of the Matterhorn. Brakes are nice too.
