    3002** '65 Resto project - What's it worth

    Gentlemen,

I am seriously considering buying such a car as the one above.

It has history, but I believe the last long term owner attempted some strucural repairs himself, with mixed results. Original engine, with all the correct 'trimmings', and trans and apparently original interior (eg 6 pleat seats etc).

The engine hasn't been started for many years and I suspect the car may have have had some impact damage 'back in the day' to an unknown degree.

My thinking would be to get the car into a condition where it could be a 'driver' and just smoke around in it, which would really suit me just fine. I'm not one for total restorations.

It's in a non original colour (original Ivory white) and could well require considerable work just to get it to 'driver' status, but I'm thinking, Hey, there can't be many cars of this age still around and still in unrestored condition and as an investment it could only go one way.....

    Two questions:

    1. Am I mad/unrealistic with my plan?
    2. What might it be worth, as it is, admittedly in a sorry state, but complete (this is not a 'swamp car') and certainly not a 'resto turd' (hilarious, term, should be patented Frank!)

Would appreciate input. My heart says 'yes' but my bank account says 'No-way-Jose'

Please don't fish for info on the identity of the car as all bait will be ignored.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Could you post some photos? If you're doing it as an investment, walk away fast, but if you're doing it for the passion , go for it, keeping in mind:

    a. it will take more time than you think
    b. it will take a lot more work than you think
    c. it will cost a lot more than you planned

Just buy it and then work out what to do. When again will you have the chance to buy one of the first 200 911 produced.

There will always be a buyer if you want to flip it.

I know one that's horrible - looks like a G-Model Turbo, wrong 2.7 CIS engine, wrong interior (Wood dash and two instruments are ok) heavy rust which is around 30k€
