The obvious question is do you have Solex or Weber carburetors?

If Solexes, you probably need the Bendix Fuel Pump sticker (available from many, many sources--they aren't peculiar to Porsches) and the Snorkel [Firing Order & Valve Clearance] sticker from Car Bone or Aase.

If Webers, it's probably the same two stickers. But...

The 911 & 912 Porsche, A Restorer's Guide to Authenticity doesn't give a chassis number for the first slam panel stickers so I certainly have no information on the exact start. Aase sells Early 911 Red Bordered Engine Bay Decal Set - 1966.

Maybe Stephen Acworth will chime in with exactly which stickers came in his Weber-carbureted '66.

There's also the question of where the Firing Order & Valve Clearance goes. With Solex carbs there are fuel lines running over the fan shroud strap so the sticker went on the snorkel. With Webers, that strap is unobstructed. Porsche eventually put stickers there.
    I have the Solex

Then I'd go with just the Snorkel [Firing Order & Valve Clearance] sticker in addition to the fuel pump sticker you already have.

By the way, there are several sources for 901.108.291.00, the hose to the snorkel for preheated air:

So, putting all of this together so far. At most, a 66 would have the firing order/valve clearance decal, and the Bendix decal, and NO others. A senior concours judge, specialist in Short Wheel Base cars, once told me his view is that it was better to lack stickers that should have been there, than to display stickers that were never there originally. Some might disagree.

That's what The 911 & 912 Porsche, A Restorer's Guide to Authenticity says. It's a single source and it's probably not something Brett Johnson spent weeks researching.

Randy Leffingwell's Porsche 911 Buyer's Guide 2nd Edition has a photo of a Weber-carbureted '66 with only a Bendix Fuel Pump sticker and a '65 with a full set of stickers (my bad--soon to be remedied).

All I'm certain of is that this isn't well-documented. I'm fairly confident that the the firing order/valve clearance decal, the Bendix decal, and no others are correct with Solex carburetors. Exactly when the Weber-carbureted cars got all the stickers is more of a mystery.

Again, maybe Stephen Acworth will chime in with exactly which stickers came in his Weber-carbureted '66.

I do agree with your senior concours judge. It's probably better to not do something you're unsure of. Also, if you can cite some reasonable research, must judges won't be confident that their memory trumps your research.

Ok. Here are the decals that I acquired with 304598 (June 1966 2.0l normal- Weber carbs). Car is matching numbers and I have full ownership history since new; also most mechanical and bodywork receipts since 1973. I also have emails confirming many aspects of the car from the first owner , etc.
The car was resprayed in 1974 and the decals were removed from the car and stored with the original owners handbook (which I also have). You can see the consistency of the glue on the reverse.

Now we seem to have evidence that 66 cars, both Weber and Solex, had 5 red bordered panel decals. Let's hope this news reaches concours judges and other "experts." This is another nice example of our forum colleagues making the effort to provide information that helps to settle controversy. Thank you.

I took these pics a couple years ago at a Porsche gathering in SoCal. The owner of this '66 claimed that the car was 100% original?

My '66 which was originally a Solex car and had the stickers. You can see the original Irish green where the stickers are coming off.

Is that Robert Young's car? If so, I think it's a very late '65 model year car.
