    FS: @BaT - 1967 911 Coupe

    Chassis 308199
    Non-matching drivetrain.

Hideous restoration. And typical ooohing and ahhhing from the simpletons on BaT.

"repainted in Stone Grey, which was chosen to match the client’s 911 GT3"

Sounds like something a pretty boy GT3 owner would do.

Botox seats finish off the restoration nicely. They should be on strings in the Macy's Parade.

Yup, it's really amazing to see how so many wanna-be 911 experts give their comments like "fantastic restoration" etc. while what we see is another restoration gone south with some wrong sheet-metal, missing VIN-plate, allen-bolts at the wrong places, a dash with a seam above the instrument cluster (I know, you have seen it ) etc.

The repro steering wheel and Hockey Puck really stick out, several close up pictures to confirm its not original! For a part that is so prominent why not make it right for a little more $$?

Hmm. I was coming on to just let you guys know this car was up on BAT but I guess someone already noticed. As the current owner I’m sure I won’t agree with all the comments that are likely to be made about the car. Having said that, I never claimed that the car is an original nor that it was strictly correct -it’s not, but what I will say is that it drives beautifully, attracts a lot of attention and was/is the cleanest, most rust free, completely undamaged shell I have ever come across. It’s a solid car that deserves a look at and in a some cases a little overlooking. And for the record, the then owner organized the upholstery through his friend. Some criticism of the over padded rear seat cushions is entirely warranted, the rest however is not as bad as some have implied. Thanks Laurence.

At the end of the day money talks and @ $70.5k with 6 days to go on a '67 normal with a non-matching drivetrain I think you are doing just fine. BTW, that's quite the collection you have there sitting in the background

Very brave of you to post here Laurence.
To the untrained eye the car looks fine. For those of us who are used to doing full rectal exams it has numerous issues.

However I don't know that you should have volunteered that you were the owner of the Porsche "restoration" shop that was responsible for this job.

As long as you don't expect to get much over 100k I think you're safe.

Thanks Frank. Many satisfied customers suggest that different strokes for different folks is a reality. I remain proud of work we did at what I will confess was as much a repair and rebuild shop as a restoration shop but in our time many otherwise dead cars were brought back to life albeit often as outlaws or frankenPorsches. Our clientele certainly were not interested in having their rectum examined.

I suspect that when the auction is over both the new owner and I will be happy with the transaction. You wait ‘till you see the next auction - a 70 Targa that is converted to what I THINK Porsche might have built if they had done a long nose Speedster! You will almost certainly have more than a few opinions on that! I love all of my Porsches some of which are pure as the driven snow and some of which would make the good doctor roll over in his grave - to each his own. :-)

You're a good sport Laurence. Obviously wise enough to take the long view of things.
I sincerely wish you the best of luck and believe you're accurate with your forecast.

Although being an armchair proctologist I pucker thinking about the LWB Speedster.

Poor guy's car ripped to shreds. Seriously, where does it end when third parties insert themselves?

Someone has to offset the idiots praising unpraiseworthy features.

People on BaT should just shut their freaking mouths unless they have earned the right to speak.
