    What’s it worth?

1967 911S matching engine with a ‘67S transmission that doesn’t match the number on the kardex.
The car is fully restored. Engine and transmission rebuilt but a Porsche specialist.. Pardon the air filter.. gone through by an enthusiast to make it as correct as possible. Original colour is ivory white, previous owner decided to go with slate grey.
Had a decent offer but not sure what’s a car like this is worth nowadays.
I appreciate your input in advance.

Nothing like real data to give you an indication.
Follow the Amelia Island auctions this weekend for this particular car to get a basic idea:
Russo Steele Amelia Island Auction, City of Fernandina Municipal Airport, Fernandina Beach, FL, March 6-8, 2019
    1967 Porsche 2.0L 911S Coupe, Lot #7035/#TH267

BTW, Very nice looking car you have there.

How is that a perfect comparison? No offense, your car looks nice, but it's a non-matching transmission car with a color change while the other car is fully matching and, according to the auction house at least, "1 of the finest and most period correct 911S available today". I suspect the car on auction will sell for a much higher number than you could hope to get for your car.

Not sure what value the different trans would take away, but . . .

. . . for the color change, I would deduct what it would take to re-do in the original

That being said --- if the car drives as nice as it looks . . . who knows? = depends on your Buyer

I mean, someone might actually buy the car to use --- in which case colors + squiggles might matter not-so-much

I'll take the dash in case you decide to part it out.

Haha! Thanks for the complement, Frank. Sharp eye as always! But no answer to my question yet
Dash, as you can see, is original; as is the rest of the interior (except the carpet and headliner) to the serial number on the radio per its Kardex.. the car has never had rust repair, all panels are original and the restoration was mostly cosmetic.. it could’ve been left all original if it was mine then. The late PO loved Steve McQueen and wanted to replicate the movie car. I had to undo a lot of what he did and been enjoying it since.

The sale is entertaining, and this pretty thing will probably stay in my garage as long as I can drive it. What’s more entertaining is the comments here.. so keep’em coming!

    Cheers

Yes; I could stare at that dash for hours and be quite content. The Botox filled re-dos are becoming so acceptable these days we forget how powerful “creep” is. See: Socialism.

Fix all of the eng bay atrocities and I think it’s $180-190 all day long. (That opinion is worth exactly what you’re paying for it! I’m not a buyer so my opinion should have little merit.)
I own a Light Ivory 67; reminds me of an old refrigerator. In 10 years color change hysteria will seem quite childish when most cars haven’t had their birth sheet metal in decades.

For the time being buy and enjoy this but “wave” as you drive by Cars n Coffee cuz you won’t want to park and confess your sin of buying a color changed S.

BTW: Is that space where the car is parked some type of crafts business your wife owns?

Glad she let you put your posters on the wall.

I'm sure there will be some clucking, but the car would be more valuable to me in Slate Gray than Light Ivory. I like both, and respect original colors, but to these eyes Slate Gray is one of Porsche's all-time great colors and so very period to an early 911 (or late 356). If a color change is done well, with colors I like, I view it as a bonus so long as a good, presentable, original car wasn't sacrificed to do it.

The good news is you didn't have to undo a Steve McQueen wheelbase conversion!

It looks like an extremely nice car.
