Thread: Why are my for sale threads being deleted/closed?

Why are my for sale threads being deleted/closed?

Why was my recent for sale thread for my Conda Green 911E deleted?

And why was this thread closed?

Members continually ask for good cars to be listed here first and I did. Did I offend someone up high?

Just a guess, but I think the first Conda thread had no price and was a pre-sale ad.

Please note and follow these rules below before you post in the Classified section:

    • All ads must state a price (links to eBay ads are allowed)
    • No pre-selling (i.e. BaT auctions need to be live vs. submitted)
    • Negotiations can be done offline (PM, phone, E-mail, etc.)
    • Items without a stated price will be deleted
    • Car ads not pertaining Early 911 Cars manufactured from 1965 to 1973 will be moved to an appropriate section
    • If you are unsure of the value of your vehicle, please post an inquiry in General Info BEFORE posting your ad here
Your latest Conda thread is still a pre-sale ad (BaT not live), but has a price, so it may be allowed.

No. Clearly listed for sale. And I had a price listed unless it was mistakenly deleted. Either way, just deleting the ad and closing my other ad without so much as a simple PM is ridiculous. I have several more cars I'm going to sell over the next several months. All much better than the average car seen here for sale. Would the powers that be prefer I list them elsewhere and not give our members the first opportunity?

No, Arne. It's available for sale to our members before I list it on Bat. Not brain surgery if you read my post.

There was no price listed on the Conda green 911 and it was turning into a behind the scenes auction. Sorry.

My browser cache shows a price on that post. If it was inadvertently deleted, I apologize. Still, I have seen countless times a newbie listing an ad without a price and then being given the opportunity to add a price to their listing. Why was I, a longtime member and frequent contributor, not given the same courtesy? Or even the courtesy of a PM that my ad had been deleted?

    That is correct.

I studied the moderated post that I can still view and there is no price. That combined with the below comment caused me to moderate the listing as an auction which is not allowed...

"Flurry of calls. My plan was to confirm with BaT today and upload the photos but I'm holding off for a day or two to allow people to do their due diligence. Car is really all that."

Glad to see it properly list in the FS section.

The price was listed. It's in my cache and, obviously, John, Frank, and everyone blowing up my text messages saw it. As I said, I may have inadvertently deleted the price when making an edit and, if so, I apologize. But it doesn't answer my question. I have seen countless times someone listing an ad without a price and then being given the opportunity to add a price to their listing.

Is there a reason I was not extended the same courtesy? Or even the courtesy of a simple notice that my thread has been deleted?

I've seen numerous times other members list a good car for sale on another venue only to have the question arise "Why didn't they list it here first?" Well, quite frankly, this is a reason why. I'm happy to list my cars here first and take part in the spirited debate that follows 9 times out of 10. But in return, the moderators should make it easier, not harder. Anything else does not just me a disservice, but does every member a disservice when sellers like me decide to list our cars elsewhere.
