    How to determine factory color of ealy car

    I just picked up a 1971 911S that was sadly modified to widebody in the 80s or 90s . Engine was also swapped out... It is now red , the paint code decal that is on the drivers side pillar is not able to be read. Who would I find out what the factory colour would have been? I don't see any other colour in the engine bay etc

    Is the dash removed, headliner removed or door panels? I'll bet you could find some original color.

    The paint code is stamped into that little badge.
    Even if they painted over the tag, you should be able to see some numbers.
    Something like:

    Name: IMG_3549.jpg Views: 118 Size: 72.6 KB

    Current long term ownership: 63 Cab, 71 911, 74 914
