    Testing a radio at home

We have a 1968 Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio that came with our 912 project, and I wanted to test it to see if it turns on. What is the procedure for that? What do I need?

... I strongly recommend you ensure a speaker is connected to unit before switching on -- powering up without speaker can blow otherwise good radio from that era !

The yellow wire is the power? The one with the grey lead just to the left next to it is what?
And the one with three inputs on the left?

The yellow wire is power, the grey lead on the left is the speaker lead. It is set up for using a single speaker or dual speakers with a common ground. The other grey lead is for the antenna. If you didn't know that you have no business messing with the radio. Your radio is switchable from 6 to 12V and positive ground to negative ground. Make darn sure that it is set for 12V negative ground. Stuff the speaker wires in one of the 2 holes that are close together and the other lead in the long part of the triangle. You will need an old antenna, too.
Good luck, Serge and I'll see you soon.

    Regards

    Jim

Although not difficult if you are unsure recommend you should get help from someone who is properly qualified on radios and autoelectrics to avoid blowing a neat unit or other misshsp !

    Thanks, everyone for the help.
We'll probably sell it (had it at Hershey) or trade it for a Bremen, which is what the 912 came with
