    Laser Cleaning

    Hello All,
Anyone ever use a Lazer Machine to clean engine cases, cam housings, cam boxes, transmission housings etc.
Do you know of any shops that do it? Seems its much safer for the oil galleys, oil squirters etc. than Vapor Blasting or other meathods of cleaning.

    Thank you

Very interesting I wonder what the finish is like afterwards? Also, what would happen to the surface if you held it too long on one position?

    Thanks, Rick

I think Id wear protective clothing before I started that thing. You wouldn't accidently wand yourself twice. But powerful and sanitary results.

I have used it,fantastic but you need a powerful unit, only safety required is special sun glasses, you can run it over your hand with no effect, its the way forward and leves the parent surface as is.

Interesting. I had a guy test some parts for me and I could see witness marks on them so not great for my purposes but I like it for stripping paint/rust over blasting.

There are many varied power output machines, also good and poor laser units and depending on what material you are using it on,if very sensitive surface low power will work on most parent surfaces, but you need patience to keep going over the surface.
Also the colour of the paint will alter the performance ,eg black is great as it absorbs the laser well ,where as white reflects a lot and requires more work.
