1972 oil change - anyone use a petcock of sorts ?

Changing the oil on a 72 is always more "fun". The oil tank plug cannot be accessed with any strength without pulling the rear wheel. But if you do that you're now on my lift and the lift arm is inconveniently right under the drain plug, or close enough I cannot put the pan there and prevent a biblical flood of oil... I used a piece of Rain gutter extension this time to redirect the rapid flow - but I was wondering if any of you installed something easier like a petcock or something that you could get tubing on and not even have to raise the car to do this ? I'm thinking a valve of sorts would be great also in case I overfill a little... wondering if a proven part would fit that plug hole as a bolt -on ?

These were popular with BMW forum peeps a few years back. Note that you can get them with various ⅝" nipples to put a hose on them to ease the process. I've not tried one myself yet, but now that I own a '72 and you have pointed this out, I might.

I have a Fumoto drain valve on my ‘69 S...works great! It has a safety lock to prevent accidental opening.
