Steering Coupler - any new versions in use?

    Dear all,

I do want to know, if there are technical updates, which do work, of the steering coupler.
As far as my poor knowledge goes, i learned the rubber version with the metall inlets does serve as a sort of damper for the steering, too.

There are some out in the market, which do reverse the construction, or are just as a stiff element.
Either cnc aluminium, or casted, or else.

precision matters, f.i. has one developed for the 356.

How is the general steering wheel feeling and drivability?
how is the difference to the rubberized version?

What is to be used best?

    thank you in advance

Newbie, hope this is not treading out of line
    Haul,
I worked with Peter G over on the 912 board to develop unit for use in 9XX cars, I'm told up to '89. It retains the flex and damping of the stock repros, but uses aluminum for the structure, capturing flex elements between two aluminum discs. Upon their failure, it is physically impossible for the coupling to 'separate.

    Ron,

thank you for your precious input

I was unfortunately too early with my request at you back in the years, as your „upgrade“ for the 9** series had not been ready yet.

If I would need a new coupler now, no question which product I would use…
