German vehicle registration document - trying to understand the significance of this

Recently sold in the Automobilia Ladenburg auction for €1,428.48 (c.$1,590US) and I am trying to understand the significance of the document and why it would fetch such a high price...

Any ideas welcome: I wrote and asked the auctioneers and they replied that it was that expensive because that was the price the seller wanted... but it sold so it must be valuable to someone...

Stephen, on the web page it says "Post Auction Sale Price: 1,428.48 €" and there is a 'Buy-it-Now' button. So no one has bought it and the price is the consignor's perceived value, obviously hoping that the owner of 304374 sees the auction...

There is no significance or value to it unless
you have the car to the paper...

I have documents from 1946 from a motorcycle trailer built 1939...noone would pay
for it unless a mad collcetor...

I once bought a lot of 200 of these and sold them later again for the same.
BUT nowadays it helps people adding e.g. 1600 ti genes to their 1600. Or making a 911 out of a 912.
However if the edge is cut it's worth nothing
