Just a few progress pictures of the car as is. Doors have been done in dark blue as well, as well as the white paint.

"if nothing goes right, go left!"
Looking great, its getting close, ready for rennsport?
thank you.
eh, no, I'm pretty sure it won't as there's still a huge list of things to do once the paint is done. I will go to RennSport, but with my first love instead
I was planning to take the car to Sicily this year, celebrating 50 years of R6's Targa win, but the amount of work to do, shipping cost and the fact Sicily just featured in a popular Netflix series made that impossible unfortunately.
It would have been good, but in the end it doesn't matter much if I make it there next year or the year after. I'm enjoying the process again and that's important too.
Will work on the hood and ducktail tomorrow, that will be a challenge for sure. At least what's on there now looks great:

It's a beautiful car.
Take your time, and get it right...just the way you want it.

Patrick, ever since you gave me a gracious shout-out for pointing you in the right direction for those fuel filler latches for your hood, I’ve been thinking of this wonderful car as “ours”, as if I had a tiny bit in it. You have done such a fantastic job on it! It’s truly one of the continuing threads I always look forward to reading. You are an inspiration to all of us, don't lose heart! I know it will be worth it in the end.

Thanks Bill, lovely to hear that!
Your and others support & feedback is genuinely one of the enjoyable parts of this long journey. It’s easy for me to say I’ve been researching this for years, but there’s been a lot of teachers on this board that I owe a lot of gratitude to.

Looking great! Thank you for the photos and update, happy to see the build moving along.
Another step forward but also a little set-back.
We painted the hood, wet-sanded its clearcoat, determined where the stripes & text needed to be and finished the dark blue & white on the hood, but unfortunately once the ducktail was finished noticed it was wrong.
I always knew that the ducktail that cam with the donor car was a glass-fibre only (no alu frame) copy, but I only noticed now, after fixing, prepping & painting it silver, that the form was completely off.
So I need to get a new ducktail and may as well do it properly, but it will set us back a few weeks.
I'm pretty chuffed with how the hood turned out, especially since this time I did the masking myself.
Another thing, the RSR had no struts to keep the hood up; I assume that was done to save some weight, yet the brackets have the provision for the structs still in place.
That surprises me, seeing the weight of these two bracket-parts is probably more than the sun visor, yet those were removed to save weight and these brackets were not modified.... or were they?
I have seen pictures of the restoration of the #58 Brumos car, where they DID modify these brackets, but other than that car, none of the RSRs I've seen, including the sister cars of R6, seem to have it.
Does someone here know? I had these brackets painted already, but am leaning toward modifying them and repainting before fitting the hood as imho it fits with what the factory would have done.
What's the view here?
