    SEV Marchal Voltage regulator Q

I have a modern solid state VR in the car currently, hidden behind the rear electrical console cover. I also have a nice, original SEV Marchal metal case VR in a box, for true originality fiends.

What's the thinking on the robustness of the old VRs vs the new solid state ones? Similar? Different? What about performance? Should I keep the modern one in use and the original as a spare, or the other way round? Car will not be going to a concours any time soon, but I know the black modern one is there under the cover and it kinda grates on me. I know, I know, there are bigger problems in this world than that.

    Ravi
