    Correct finish on a 1971 Engine Grill

    Starting the slow process of refinishing the engine grill.

    Looking at the grill, it looks like the back of the wire mesh was painted black, but the front appears natural, almost copper colored. Is this correct? or was the mesh fully painted both sides in black? Thanks....

    Yes, black both sides. They all fade on the weather side.

    Should look like this if done right. I used the Duplicolor Metalcast anodized paint on the aluminium bots and it looks perfect. Like about a 5 year faded version of the black anodized OEM finish. I used it on the mesh too, to be honest, but because it is recessed it looks black anyways so ot saves an enormous amount of work.
