    Nadella Paint Question

Were the original Nadella axles as installed on 65 911s cars, except for the wheel-side spine, painted all black including u-joints -- as if they took a completed axle assembly and painted all of it black (except for wheel-end spline)?

Also, unable to find any used u-joints for the wheel side and unwilling to oversize yokes to accept spicer or other aftermarket u-joints, I'm having a pair machined to original specs. Last call, does any have a pair of original u-joint crosses for the wheel end? Bearing Caps are not important as I was able to source them to fit original-sized u-joint crosses and yoke.

    Thanks

    Hi John,

As far as I can tell they were painted black completely except for the splines.

Did you source the original type bearings or an alternative?

    Thanks JK

The bearing caps came with an aftermarket set of u-joints (I don't have with me at home or I'd give you the name) where the crosses are too short for full penetration into the yoke bores to suit my level of comfort, although others use them. The id of the bearing caps, however, match the od of the original u-joints. The OD of the bearing cap is about two or three-thousands larger and will hone yoke opening as needed for good interference fit. I was hoping to find a "plug and play" set of aftermarket u-joints (or original u-joint crosses to use with aftermarket bearing caps) but no such luck.
