First of all, let me do a quick preliminary talk about my intention starting such thread:
  • My goal is not selling the car.
  • My goal is not to make the car famous.
  • My goal is not to promote any restoration shop, any specialist, or any part reseller.

But:
  • My goal is to have this car restored in order to use it.
  • My goal is to share about this car.
  • My goal is to collect advices.
  • My goal is enjoying the exchange that may come out of this thread.

I’m French. I live close to Paris.
Doing this thread in English might not be easy for me.
My English will not be perfect. Sorry about that.

I own 300090 since 25 years.
I used the car for about 10 years and then it sat in my garage as I was focus on another hobby.
2 years ago I have decided to have the car restored. No rush to have it done but it was time to set a T-zero.
Since I was fully aware that I had a special car I took my time to prepare its comeback.
I know that 300090 should not be restored like any other classic car, because it’s a Porsche because is a 911, because it’s a SWB and because it’s a 64.

I was lucky to meet the good people for this project: Maybe not the best shop possible, maybe not the most famous but they all are very motivated, very skilled, very curious and ready to learn.

For this project Lucas is assisting me.
He will be like a third party, helping to solve some points and giving advices.
But he should also ask the good questions and make every one confident on what to do.

His first point was to get the Kardex. As you can see, the car was Bali Blue, delivered in Perpignan (south of France).
The car does not have its original engine.
When I bought it in 1994, the car had a magnesium engine that I replaced with an aluminum engine.

The gearbox is the original:

Today the car has been disassembled and stripped, the restoration process is about to begin.

For some reasons I had the car checked by Kobus Cantraine.
He scanned the VINs, checked the integrity of the shell and few other details that will come later on this thread.
As a conclusion he confirmed that the car I own is not a re-stamped shell, this really is 300090, Bali Blue early 911 completed on December 4, 1964.

I hope we will enjoy discussing about my once in a lifetime project.

Cheers,

Philippe
