    Dash pad query

    Phillipe

Really enjoying this thread and well done for documenting it all.

Quick question for the 1965 experts - is the '65 dash pad the same as a '66/67 (as below) with the addition of the four 'buttons'?

    Hi haul,

There was no “yellow” inscription on top of the dashboard.
Does anyone know if in 1964 the factory systematically wrote the chassis number on the paint of the dashboard?
    Would you have any examples?

Are we working (too) fast? I don't think so.
    We take the necessary time:
    • We disassembled the car in November 2018.
    • We did strip the car three months later in February 2019.

We made over 1000 pictures during disassembly.
If you want to see more pictures tell us which ones and we will share them with pleasure.

no crayon on the dash on `64...the only crayon on body parts i found so far was a signature like scribbeling on both doors... crayon also on the inside of the door panesl(date code) and on the cardboard in the trunk

It's too bad you blasted off the original Aga blue paint. It looked like it remained near perfect under the dash. Always nice to keep those original touches original, otherwise it will be a completely new car after the restoration with no original bits left.

The original color is Bali Blue.
The car was fully stripped to remove any rust.
When the body work will be finished the car will be stripped again.
Followed by the application of a prime coat using a cathodic dip coating bath.
How could we keep some of the original paint after this necessary treatment?

Philippe ,where do you go for the dip?

BTW the ash tray cage is still in place...remove before dip.
what do you do with the silencer in the door sill? fill with steel wool (thats what i did) or weld /solder in after the dip

Thank you for your advice moito.
We plan to do the dip by a partner of the company that does the stripping.
These 2 companies are in France.
They are distant from each other by only 30 km.
This will allow the dip less than 1 hour after the final stripping.
