    901 Synchros

So I have a simple question. At least I hope it's simple. I want to rebuild my 901 transmission and was going to try to order sychros for it. Looking at the PET catalog, it appears that all 5 synchros are the same size. Is that correct? I'm being told from some local guys that the 1st gear synchro is larger. Can anyone confirm?

    Thanks

Chris, a 901 transmission uses the same synchro ring for all gears. A 915 transmission uses larger synchro rings in 1st and 2nd.

Thanks Jon. Do you have a recommendation on brands? I see OEM and Rauch & Spiegel. Is one better or worse than the other?

Synchro rings are just part of the equation , what about the sliders ? A 901 with good used synchros and new slider rings will shift really well . New style stop blocks , energizers and brake bands make a difference also .

If you open up your 901, you will want to swap out all the bearings too.

Does anyone have recent experience on what someone would expect to put out ($$$) for the entire parts list for a complete rebuild? bearings, synchros, slider rings, stop blocks, energizers and brake bands? Seals, etc....????
