    Driver quality carpet - recommendations?

Thinking ahead some to when my car comes back from paint—it is going to need carpet. I can't see myself re-installing the shreds of crispy carpet that I just stripped and vacuumed out, even as a short term placeholder.

The car is an early '72 T coupe with S-appearance package. So it originally had velour carpet. As best I can determine from the rotting shreds, it was the typical salt & pepper stuff.

I am not restoring to factory fresh original, the car will be a driver. As such, the carpet needs to fit well and look close to original. Something that your average uninformed or semi-informed observer will think looks appropriate. Budget is an issue, I simply can not afford to do everything to concours level, even driver level refresh will need to be done in waves, due to budget.

All that said, what supplier do people recommend for affordable-but-acceptible carpet kits?

Thanks. Bob was one of the guys I expected to talk with. He did some really nice custom brown panels for my previous '84 Carrera, so I'm acquainted.
