NOS Hirschmann 4900 LS 14 in original box

    ***SOLD***

For sale is imho the second best option to provide your LWB with an antenna. In case there is no antenna mentioned on your Kardex/COA, it might even be the most logical choice. It can even be used on a SWB and on a 356. The head is the famous Auta 4195.

In terms of retractable manual antennas, Hirschmann recommended dealers to install, next to the factory used Auta 4000 C71L (110 cm), either:
    - the much smaller (headed) Auta 2400 LS 11 (105 cm) or Auta 2400 LS 14 (140 cm)
    - the Auta 4900 LS 14 (140 cm) or Auta 4900 LS 18 (180 cm)

The Auta 4900 LS 14 is in terms of head and length most comparable to the Auta 4000 C71L. The other 3 options deviate more.

    Hirschmann catalogue 1969/1970:

The antenna for sale is NOS. Price: 750 EUR + shipping from Belgium + PayPal

Do you have documentation of this ever being factory or dealer recommended? I'd love to see it. Kind of an obsession of mine. I have documentation from Vasek Polak, on their letterhead, of the Auta 4900 LS 18 being the factory recommended antenna but never the shorter Auta 4900 LS 14.

Someday, when I have a radio, I don't expect to really use it. Rarely, if any. So I don't think anyone would be able to tell the difference between the 140mm and 180mm versions when it is collapsed...

Not that I'd be willing to spend €750 + PP fee + shipping for my driver. But for some cars...

It's a very small group of us antenna geeks, for sure...

No price in your ad, btw.

I grew bored of supermodels sometime in the late '90 when I lived in L.A. NOS antennas are much harder to find and better behaved.

Excuse my ignorance... in this thread I’m seeing anywhere from 140mm (5.5”) to 180cm in length. (Almost 6’!)

Totally confused. (Does cold weather make a difference?)

    Just trying to learn.

Folks who shall remain nameless have been known to measure the location of aerial holes drilled in wings ( fenders) using tape. These are otherwise normal men who have actually got real (not imaginary wives), kids and even responsible jobs. They know who they are and I'm not telling. One of my normal friends hasn't quite got over witnessing this sad obsession at Classics at the Castle. It is contagious and even a female owner friend had been drawn into measuring that drilled location on her 73 911. Be afraid...be very afraid.. it is a slippery slope. Treatment is not available for this addiction on the free British National Health Service, unfortunately

There was one already, like Arne noted.
