1971 911 ashtray lamp, seeking help

    hello,
my 1971 car has a dangling light near the ashtray.
it has a brown ground wire attached....just like the drawing. #89
I have one black and blue wire coming out of the main light switch...that goes nowhere..and was repaired at one time.

the drawing says there is an "ashtray lamp" #25

but I cannot see where the black plastic housing and lamp get anchored in place.
does anyone know where this thing goes?

Maybe it goes in the radio, to light it up...

Your black/blue striped wire goes on the 2nd leg of the bulb socket of the dangling light.
If you pull down the ash tray you will find a hole in the metal part above the ashtray bucket.
On the other side of that metal plate, there should be a rubber booth, where the light can slide in.
The rubber booth has a small rubber ring on the side that snug fits the hole in the metal plate.
That's how the entire thing (light bulb holder and rubber booth) is held into place.

(this probably should not be in the for sale section)
