    Retractable Seat Belt Retrofit

    We've got a '67 911S, and a '70 S in the shop.
Is there a non-invasive kit we can buy to upgrade to retractable belts?
    Thanks.

Very easy to do with the 70S. Not so easy with the 67. The 70 comes with captive nuts already in the chassis for the seat belt retractor. You will find a bolt (very rare seat belt bolt, Don't lose them!). They are located in the rear wheel wells just forward of the tires. You will need to punch a small hole in the quarter trim panels for the bolt to hold the retractor but that is it. The 67 will require more work.

    Regards

    Jim
PS: Retractable seat belts from a 85 or later 944 work great for your 70S. You will need the belts, retractors and receivers.

Thanks, Jim, does it matter that my '70 S has Sport seats?

That bolt is yellow chromate 7/16-20 and you can fashion the right one with a couple of serrated washers if you can’t find the actual bolt. The object is to hold the retractor at a 15 degree angle tilted (wrt directly up) toward the front. Tilt it too much and the retractor will latch constantly when you try to pull the belt forward and around you.
