Correct Plating/Color for Engine & Gearbox Mount Washers?

It seems like these washers (#10 in the attached diagram) were coated with some type of black coating on the SWB cars and possibly the early LWB cars and then switched to yellow Cad around '73 or so. Does anyone know when the change was made and more importantly, what is correct for my mid year 1970E?

I'd let the experts answer Tom...

However I had a very early, very original (3 digit - Sept. '70) '71E and it had cad/zinc yellow washers...

The car was maintained by Roger Bursch at Scientific Automotive through most of it's former life...
No idea if old Roger switched to a newer part during his tenure....

    Hope you find the answer...

My 70T has black washers, they were in the boxes the with the engine, it was the first time the engine/gearbox had ever been removed and i was there when it was removed years ago by my father, last reg 83 with 38K on it. nothing since then.

...seems to be confirmed in this shot of James Hunt's 73 RS one of last of first 500 series taken when nearly new in lilac certainly before the body was repainted white so likely original factory was black on early part of calendar 73. Note contrast of the washer to the plated parts e.g. oil filler

To be certain pictures of cars brand new better than 40 year old cars presumed still original.

The washers were painted black until 1977 . I have a '73E - 7,000 miles , the washers are black paint . This is a text book example of being wrong so often people think the wrong is correct .

Maybe we should start a thread on things that are done wrong so often or quoted so often but wrongly they are thought correct.
