I have a lot of catching up to do on this thread. 9 and 11x15s are on Bandit now. The motor turned out nice.
    It's a hotrod.

    Good morning,

I'm getting very close to firing my fresh '79 930/64 motor with SC cams. Overlap setting 1.4 mm on the cams. (Euro CIS, euro heat exchangers, 36mm intake runners, stock Mahle pistons with Carrillo rods, I have the early vacuum advance only distributor) big 965 intercooler, K27/7200, Tial WG

Because of the SC cam upgrade I'm curious as to the best static setting for ignition timing to get it to fire and thought I'd get peolpe from the groups opinion.

Here is a chart of different ignition timing settings for turbo and 911 SC. Right now I simply set it at 5 degrees ATDC.
    Thanks

I think to end up at 5-10 degrees ATDC at 1000 rpm with vacuum advance connected I'll set initial crank spark at -15 ATDC. Then get the light on it once it's run 30 minutes. Timing at 4000 rpm is critical.

I'm installing the hard lines. I reconditioned the originals. I was sent the wrong crossover pipe/hose so waiting on the correct one at the moment to try and start the motor.

Thank you Jim, I ended up using a factory whale tail and painted the louvered engine lid. I will install the rear center panel soon.
The shortened 930 4 speed feels great and has factory limited slip and is close ratio. I'm looking forward to getting out for a good drive. Brakes feel good. Steering feels super precise.

I'm relieved the clutch feels so nice after all the modifications. That's what kept me awake at night.
This is the same Sachs racing plate that Yellowbird used.
Sachs racing sent me a bag of gummy bears with the plate. Germans are so nice!
