    MFI microswitch replacement

So the MFI microswitch is a pretty spendy piece of kit if you ask me.
For $175, you get a normally closed momentary switch.

Is there any reason why something like this ($10) wouldn't work if you came up with a little bracket to hold the switch in the correct position?

Obviously whatever generic switch you choose needs to be robust to handle the many, many times it's going to be toggled.
Like the "factory" micro switch is all that good?
I've got lots of them in the micro switch graveyard.

    Thoughts?

Yes you could make those small push Botton switches work, I don't think they would last too long. I found a source for the OEM ( 95% correct ) micro switch from "Newark Electronics". Size is the same but the micro switch boot is orange instead of black. Also it has a 3rd connector blade to make it NO or NC. I will Check on the price again but the last time I ordered them they were about $20 each.

Mark, that is a much better solution as well as price. Nice find there. Will get one for a spare.

    Awesome Mark.

And googling you can see the list of all the sellers and what they have in stock. Europe too.
