It appears that reproduction R hinges are tig welded stainless steal with a threaded pivot pin/acorn nut. My experience with R hinges is brazed mild steel with a peened pivot pin. What's your experience?

Here are mine. TIG welded stainless steel. These were source from my buddy Dave at TRE Motorsports. We did make spacers from aluminum to get the steel deck lid to align with the body. These may be made for fiberglass lids and thus the need for the spacers, when using a stock steel lid. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Attached is a picture of the original hinge on R15. The pin is not peened, rather they used a clevis pin with a cotter pin. They were mild steel chromed or possibly nickle plated. The assembly does look to be brazed together.
I hope this helps.

Thanks all for your input. It appears that the ones that I am reusing had been painted on the car by Porsche. It was a werks car repainted several times so I am not sure about the hinge finish with first paint. To paint or not to paint?
On the 911R they would not be painted.

From the pictures we know 28 had R hinges but it’s accounted for. 30 from the photos doesn’t seems to have R hinges. (At least it doesn't appear to my eyes)
So that leaves 29 which didn’t finish? What is it’s post Marathon history?
Note the red dish light confirming the red stripe.

#30 At The Marathon in 1968 with stripe. #28 with painted hinges? Post #16 of #30 shows no stripe and the right side roundel covers the Porsche side stripe. The Marathon cars on the left side allow for the Porsche script to be read. Where was post 16 taken?
