The car this engine number was originally installed into was reported a number of years ago in Germany 300089. but the owner said the cars numbers started with a 9 ??? rather than a 3. Engine serial numbers from 1 thru 100 were reserved for future internal use and prototypes. Engines installed into production cars started with serial number 900101 - and reading Daves spectacular listing on this very forum there is engine #900 101 internal number "1" as had been installed into a car September 14 1964 - first car in the build book listings.

This engine should have it's internal stamped number as 95 above the oil temp sender (photo is twisted 90deg to it's side) where it looks to have a "A" and possibly a "F" partially seen. A Photo clearly showing this area will tell more.

With reply #6 (2 years after last activity) and more questions about it “in the market” it seems that the car that the engine belongs too is available
